Ainu, aka Hokkaido or Ainu-ken, is a Japanese hunting dog breed, which is on the register of the Nippo Cynological Association for the Protection of Primitive Breeds. Hokkaido can be considered one of the most ancient breeds. They were bred on the eponymous island of Japan (Hokkaido). Hokkaido showed a high level of endurance and dexterity in hunting, they have a balanced character. Hokkaido must be educated and trained from an early age. Hokkaido - wayward dogs, often stubborn; at first they are quite difficult to train, despite their clear mind. Weight: 20 - 25 kg. Height at the withers: 45 - 52 cm. Life expectancy: 11 - 13 years.
